Bodmin Beacon

fireworks

Lions in Bodmin are part of the joint committee that organizes the Nov 5th firework event in Priory Park each year,
We believe it to be the best Nov 5th display in North Cornwall & at a Great price.

Great Fireworks, Great Weather, Great Night

What a fantastic turn out for Bodmin's firework display. This years display was set to Si Fi music but it wasn't just about the fireworks we had the fair rides, food stalls & Live music leading up to The Wood Ship Europa PW-01 flaming off to a better future ably crewed by all the guys in the guy competition. In the picture below you can see even guys have a heart they are desperately trying to rescue a Dalek.
Speaking of Daleks, click here to take you to a section of the fireworks display set to the Dr Who theme.
One Guy all dressed in white arrived to late to be judged in the competition. I can assure the creator the Guy made it to the ship in time for the fiery voyage.

Guy competition results
1st Castle Canyke [Mr Spock]
2nd Cardinham Play group
3rd Horizon Club

Big thank you to every one. Just one little reminder, the event is put on for the community, none of the committee, gate staff, helpers or marshals get paid. All the profits get donated in Feb to children & youth organizations in Bodmin & the surrounding villages. The committee also gives some one off donations to support local events.

All for the price of a pint.

Update 14th March 2017

Profits from the 2016 fireworks display were handed out at Bodmin football club on Mon 13th Feb.
Unfortunately yet again some cheques were uncollected, the money will be reallocated to other causes.

Priory Park Fence

 No Zones for 2016

Another very good display by our firework providers Neon Pyrotechnics all set to the film score music of John Williams. The sound system was, I think, the best we have had & projected the sound to all parts of the park.
We had good suport from you all with crowd numbers about the same as last year, not bad being we clashed with other firework events.
As usual we will distribute profits in Feb

We have been working hard since last year for a better solution to crowd safety & site management. With the cooperation of Bodmin Football Club we are putting addition gates in the fence to allow full access across the park, No More Zones.

Bodmin's spectacular fireworks display will held at our usual venue, Priory park, on Saturday the 5th November 2016 .
So gather up your children or grandchildren or get together with your friends and enjoy this years fabulous display which is on course to be the biggest and best in the whole of North Cornwall.

The big news this year is, we are able to get rid of the zones that we were forced to implement last year. You will be able once again to move freely around the whole of the site[ grandstand not included ] and enjoy all the stalls and rides that are present.
For your convenience have also decided keep the fair rides for older children and adults to enjoy over on the football club side of the site. and the rides etc for the younger children will be predominantly on the hard standing old tennis courts with entry advised for there, via priory road. And for this year, for the first time there will be a wine, and mulled wine stall available for the adults to enjoy on the priory rd side.
With all the upheaval on the roads this year we will endeavor to improve the signage for the entry points. Please look us up on Facebook and twitter for the latest news and information.

The display will be accompanied by music, and this years theme is film scores written by John Williams. These include the following great film soundtracks; The star wars theme, Close encounters of the third kind, Harry potter, hedwig's theme, The superman theme, Jaws, Jurassic park, ET, Raiders of the lost ark and The imperial march [star wars]
Some great music to accompany the fireworks I am sure you would agree!
So come on get there early and make a great evening of it!

The gates will open at 6pm with the choosing of the guy and lighting of the bonfire taking place at 7pm
The firework display will commence at 7.30pm.
The fairground rides, stalls food and sweet concessions will be available from 6pm and after the show to enjoy, so please don't rush off.
Remember to try and get there early to avoid the queues!

The prices for entry remain the same this year as last year.
