Bodmin Beacon

history

The Lions club of Bodmin was Chartered (Formed) 28th April 1970.

At that time "LIONS" Part of Lions Clubs International was quite a new organization to Cornwall and the new Lions worked hard to gain the good reputation we have today. The club was chartered with 15 members, 2 of whom are still with us. The membership has grown over the years and the current membership is 39. We are an all male club and have members aged from their 20s to their 90s.

Everyone in Lions gives their time totally free & we all pay an annual subscription to cover Club administration. Charges at some of our events cover the cost of things like insurance & other licence fees, but in general all other money collected by us all gets used for charitable causes.

a new era

Calling all young adults in the Bodmin area.

Bodmin  Lions need you.

We are working hard to form a new younger club in Bodmin

Many of you have asked about Lions: Who are they? Where do they come from? How could I join them?

Well In spite of Lions’ best efforts & enjoying what we do, time has taken its toll on many of us, our hair has turned grey or fallen out.

BODMIN LIONS HAVE BEEN YOUNG MEN JUST A LITTLE TOO LONG.

WE NEED YOUNGER PEOPLE.

To regenerate Lions in Bodmin we would like your help to form a new younger club.

Start again,

New ideas,

Younger people,

Probably a mixed club; (Bodmin Lions Club is currently men only).

The new club would have the full backing of Bodmin Lions & Lions International. If you have ever fancied getting involved but didn't know where to start please contact us to see if we can get it going .
