St Piran is the patron saint of Cornwall & tin miners.
St Piran was a 6th century abbot who supposedly discovered tin by mistakenly throwing a piece of black tin ore onto a fire & the tin ran out. This is said to be the origin of St Pirans Flag, the flag of Cornwall. St Pirans day is the 5th of March & is celebrated in Bodmin & throughout Cornwall.
Lions were once again out in force to marshal the Bodmin St Pirans
Day Parade down Fore street to the Folly.
Then after speeches, singing &
dancing on to the church for Lunch.
